Tsinghua University's School of Journalism and Communication combines teaching, research, training and consultancy, and holds a leading academic position in international communication, media and technology, the arts, and film and television. Working with 7D Vision, the school has built an XR virtual production training lab equipped with the ViCave XR immersive shooting system. The lab gives students hands-on experience of news presenting and film and TV production, and lets them explore new kinds of content with the industry's most advanced tools.
ViCave XR is 7D Vision's in-house virtual production system. It combines VR, AR and 3D rendering, and broadcasters such as CCTV, Beijing TV and Henan TV already use it.
The lab helps students learn how they will work in the future and in what kind of environment. Through hands-on practice they meet the real challenges of the job early, build practical experience, and are better prepared for industry. Students can also use the lab to shoot a wide range of content. Beyond improving learning outcomes and engagement, it gives them room for creative expression and fresh ideas, and fills gaps that conventional teaching leaves.
7D Vision describes the partnership as recognition from one of the world's leading research universities.
